We are thankful to Rt. Rev. Dr. Bishop Foley Beach and the Anglican Diocese of the South for its strong Pro-Life position and in reaching out to Sandra in such a special way.
Has anyone ever lied about you? I don’t mean they misunderstood you or hurt your feelings, I mean deliberately misrepresented you and your core beliefs. You are left with the task of trying to repair the damage; emotionally, spiritually and physically. This is the life of Sandra Cano: Mary Doe of Doe vs. Bolton the companion case to the more famous Roe vs. Wade decision. I befriended Sandra in 1995. I have watched her try in numerous ways to get people to listen to the truth of her story. We have been at Pro-Life events, on stage together, when she tells her shocking story. Afterwards most people are taken aback and very interested: but nothing seems to change. In hopes of getting her case overturned, Allan Parker and The Justice Foundation of San Antonio, Texas worked diligently and at great expense to build her case. I witnessed her great disappointment when, after six years of winding its way to the Supreme Court through all the proper channels, the Supreme Court refused to hear it. Was the fact that she was originally misrepresented unworthy of review? It is not as if the case isn’t relevant, babies are being aborted everyday because of the court decision that bears her name. Sandra still wages her battle to stop the carnage and clean her name from the record.
Rev. Canon Steven J. Saul from Trinity Anglican Church, Douglasville, GA has always been a Pro-Life advocate. His church is near Sandra’s home and he expressed interest in somehow helping her. He became aware of her story while reading Supreme Deception, the book I wrote about Sandra’s story. Ever since then, Trinity has been praying for Sandra. Although already a Christian, she recently expressed a desire to be baptized. I asked Steven for help. Looking at Sandra’s life, he understood why baptism was so important for her. He scheduled the event immediately, a time was set. Sandra, her sister, I and my sister were present. I sat next to her and watched her face as Steven explained each precept of the service. She absorbed everything he said with keen interest. She experienced the peace of God and sensed His loving touch. The Holy Spirit was present to guide and minister to her that day. Steven gave her a delicate crocheted white cross Bible marker as a remembrance for her. Sandra Cano was blessed that day and now knows she has a friend and minister nearby to lift her up in prayer and be there if ever she calls. I am very thankful to Rt. Rev. Dr. Bishop Foley Beach and the Anglican Diocese of the South for its strong Pro-Life position and in reaching out to Sandra in such a special way.
