Anglicans for Life NewsBrief October 2011

Dear E-Friends,

Transhumanism – I’m wondering how many of you have heard that term? The lead story in this month’s NewsBrief, "The Transhumanism Trap: Using Technology to Perfect the Human Race," offers a succinct description of what transhumanism is (and isn’t). We have included this article because the Church must be aware of these issues and be prepared to offer biblical guidance on the use of such technologies.

You’ll also find good reading on:

•    how the Anglicans’ Book of Common Prayers can be used to bridge the hotly-debated gap between Church and State
•    stem cell research, both embryonic and adult stem cells
•    Alabama’s extension of legal protection to the unborn child.

And while it may not even be shocking to many of us anymore, our back cover story reports that “a new survey of African-American youth (ages 13 – 21) has found that almost half report considerable pressure to have sex.” So if this statistic isn’t shocking, we need to ask ‘why not?’ and ‘what can we do to restore the appropriate shock-reaction so that more are moved to work to change this statistic!’

As always, we encourage you to consider becoming a regular donor to Anglicans for Life.

Thanks for your interest in Anglicans for Life – and mostly, for your PASSION for LIFE!

Prayer For Life

PRAYER FOR LIFE Lord God, thank You for creating human life in Your image. Thank You for my life and the lives of those I love. Thank You for teaching us through Scripture the value You place on life. Help me to uphold the sanctity of life in my church and community. Give me the strength to stand up to those forces
that seek to destroy the lives of those most vulnerable,
the unborn, the infirm and the elderly. Today I commit myself never to be silent, never to be passive, never to be forgetful of respecting life. I commit myself to protecting and defending the sacredness of life
according to Your will, through Christ our Lord.
Amen.   Anglicans for Life 405 Frederick Avenue Sewickley, PA  15143
