Find the lastest on the Kenya Constitution.
In our June 2010 Newsletter, Anglicans for Life reported that the Anglican Church of Kenya would not support the draft constitution because of the pro-abortion language it contained. We are sad to report that the Church has changed its official position to being neutral now.
This change occurred in June, after Prime Minister Raila Odinga visited All-Saints Cathedral of Nairobi to convince the Anglican Church’s members to endorse the referendum to approve the draft constitution that gives direction as to circumstances under which abortion may be permitted.
Archbishop Wabukala insisted that it was important for “the church to stay united,” stating that beginning Thursday, July 1, 2010 the Anglicans will go into prayer mode for at least five minutes at every service, to pray for the country. August 1, the Archbishop said, had been set aside to pray for the referendum.
Anglicans for Life has also learned that New Jersey Rep. Chris Smith, recently reported that he has evidence the Obama administration is funding the “Yes” campaign via organizations that are actively supporting the pro-abortion Constitution on the ground in Kenya. “There is no doubt that the Obama Administration is funding the ‘Yes’ campaign in Kenya,” he said. “By funding NGOs charged with obtaining ‘yes’ votes, the Administration has crossed the line.”
