Planned Parenthood Director Learns Women Need Support, Not Abortion

The story of Abby Johnson

For the past eight years, Abby Johnson reasoned that she was helping women with family planning when she went to work each day as director of the Bryan, Texas, Planned Parenthood (PP) clinic.

A chain of three events caused her to have a change of heart.

Abby recently had a spiritual conversion at the Episcopal Church that she regularly attends.

Then, in order to increase its income, PP changed its focus from family planning to abortion and she was pushed to strive for abortion quotas to boost profits. “Abortion is the most lucrative part of PP. Even though they’re separate corporations, all the money goes into one pot,” said the 29-year-old.

Finally, after actually watching and assisting with an ultrasound-guided abortion procedure, Abby was convinced it was time to turn from a career focused on death and commit to a life-affirming ministry.

Abby feels her burden of guilt that she kept “pushing down” has been lifted. She now supports the Coalition For Life and prays outside the PP clinic where she used to work. She now believes that women need support, not abortion. It’s something we at Anglicans for Life and the Silent No More Awareness Campaign have also learned from our experience.

At AFL, we know hundreds of women, men, and families who have been harmed, even traumatized, by their abortion experiences. We encourage them to find healing.

We also know that abortion providers, like Abby Johnson, can experience the same trauma as those who have abortions and need our prayers and support. As she is discipled by her new Christian friends at the Coalition For Life, she needs our prayers for her healing and restoration from the trauma of her years of working in the abortion industry. Please add Abby and those who are discipling her to your prayer list.

Prayer For Life

PRAYER FOR LIFE Lord God, thank you for creating human life in your image. Thank you for my life and the lives of those I love. Thank you for teaching us through Scripture the value you place on life. Help me to uphold the sanctity of life in my church and community. Give me the strength to stand up to those forces
that seek to destroy the lives of those most vulnerable,
the unborn, the infirm and the elderly. Today I commit myself never to be silent, never to be passive, never to be forgetful of respecting life. I commit myself to protecting and defending the sacredness of life
according to Your will, through Christ our Lord.
Amen.   Anglicans for Life 405 Frederick Avenue Sewickley, PA  15143
