The Anglican Church in North American formally adopted a life affirming statement in their Constitution and Canons establishing the new Province. It reads as follows:
TITLE II
Worship and the Administration of Sacraments
Canon 8
Of Standards of Sexual Morality and Ethics
Section 4
God, and not man, is the creator of human life. The unjustified taking of life is sinful.
Therefore, from conception to natural death all members and Clergy are called to protect and respect the sanctity of every human life.
Section 5
The Church is called upon to show Christ-like compassion to those who have fallen into sin, encouraging them to repent and receive forgiveness, and offering the ministry of healing to all who suffer physically or emotionally as a result of such sin.
The AFL Board of Directors unanimously agreed to new goals and statements that reflect what we feel God has called us to do. Here are our new statements and as we proceed throughout the year, you will hear more about our goals and how you can get involved in helping us achieve them!
Anglicans for Life applauds Archbishop Robert Duncan of the Anglican Church in North America as he joins with other religious communities in the US in shared commitment to uphold marriage as the union of one man and one woman.
When we heard about the task force being formed to research the declining population in the Church, we laughed and when we realized that the Episcopal Church chose to uphold the sanctity of abortion, we cried.
In the end, the form of oppression we call abortion bears striking likeness to grinding oppression and sexual slavery. Women with child, left without support, particularly by the fathers, are our widows. Their unborn children are our fatherless. In every act of abortion, the fatherless child is killed while the widow is sexually exploited. Legally. Over one million times each year.
Christians, when they have lived up to the highest ideals of their faith, have defended the weak and vulnerable and worked tirelessly to protect and strengthen vital institutions of civil society, beginning with the family.
Anglicans for Life has compiled this pro-life resource list of Bible verses, prayers, liturgies and litanies emphasizing the Sanctity of Life. We hope you will find them to be helpful when preparing sermons, talks, articles and in any discussion concerning life-affirming issues.
