AFL seeks to help ordained and lay leaders provide a pastoral response to people facing difficult life decisions, so we will be using this column to highlight various difficult but important life issues.

Life is a gift from God. One of God’s present day miracles is that through specialists, doctors, medicine, and special procedures, this miracle continues to happen. There are countless procedures now available which offer hope for infertile couples. Though some procedures may present some ethical issues, it is important to remember that many of them do not and are God-given means to facilitate what He ultimately always makes happen—life itself.

The desire to have a child for the infertile couple causes a very deep emotional and spiritual struggle. All Christians must be aware of this struggle and the need to listen to infertile couples.

A UK couple recently lost their last IVF embryo when it was mistakenly implanted in another woman.

Prayer For Life

PRAYER FOR LIFE Lord God, thank you for creating human life in your image. Thank you for my life and the lives of those I love. Thank you for teaching us through Scripture the value you place on life. Help me to uphold the sanctity of life in my church and community. Give me the strength to stand up to those forces
that seek to destroy the lives of those most vulnerable,
the unborn, the infirm and the elderly. Today I commit myself never to be silent, never to be passive, never to be forgetful of respecting life. I commit myself to protecting and defending the sacredness of life
according to Your will, through Christ our Lord.
Amen.   Anglicans for Life 405 Frederick Avenue Sewickley, PA  15143
